Going Postal

Sky1 to screen Terry Pratchett's Discworld Post Office Classic

postal_th

Moist Von Lipwig is a con artist.....

.....and a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged, or put Ankh-Morpork's ailing postal service back on its feet.

It's a tough decision.

But he's got to see that the mail gets through, come rain, hail, sleet, dogs, the Post Office Workers' Friendly and Benevolent Society, the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore company, and a midnight killer.

Getting a date with Adora Belle Dearheart would be nice too.

'Pratchett's joy in his creations, in jokes, puns, the idea of letters and language itself, makes Going Postal one of the best expressions of his unstoppable flow of comic invention.' - The Times

postalcast

Following the success of The Hogfather and The Colour of Magic, Sky have decided to adapt Going Postal for television.

The all-star cast includes Charles Dance, David Suchet, Andrew Sachs, Richard Coyle, Claire Foy and Steve Pemberton.

David Suchet commented: "It's a wonderfully clever satire on the modern world. My character, Reacher Gilt, put the Post Office out of business with a new communication system."

But the story really centres on the reluctant hero who's forced to challenge Gilt's monopoly - Moist Von Lipwig, played by Richard Coyle.

Going Postal airs on Sky1 on Sunday 30 May.
